About Tenri

Why we made Tenri.

Tenri was founded by someone for whom yoga has always been more than a physical practice. It's moving meditation. And few things pull you out of that space faster than a towel bunching and sliding beneath your hands and feet.

The Tenri mat was designed to stay in place, so you can stay with your breath.

The snap-on towel

Snap on. Stay present.

Your towel should move with your practice—not beneath your hands and feet. The Tenri towel snaps onto all four corners of the mat, helping keep it in place so you can stay with your breath.

Four corners. One connection.
Corner snaps attach the towel directly to the mat, rather than leaving it loose on top.
Your line stays in sight.
The towel is narrower than the mat, leaving the Tenri alignment edge marks visible on both sides. The towel and the line work together.
A match for every mat.
Every towel design fits every Tenri mat colorway. Choose your mat and towel independently in the Essentials Kit.

Using the Tenri line

Hands, center, feet.

The T is the head of the mat and the t is the foot. Everything in between helps you place yourself the same way every time.

Hands marks on the Tenri line

Hands

Plank and down dog. Each rail has three ticks. Pick the one that matches your shoulder width and use the same tick on both sides so your hands stay even.

Towel on? The short marks on the mat's edges sit level with the rails, so you can still find your place.

Center marks on the Tenri line

Center

Seated and balance poses. Sit on the ring. The short ticks either side mark hip width.

Staying straight. The center line runs from the T to the t. Line your spine, nose or heels up with it.

Feet marks on the Tenri line

Feet

Mountain and standing poses. Stand with a foot on each of the two short marks, hip-width apart.

Warrior and triangle. Set your back foot along one of the 45° lines.

Care

Look after your mat.

  1. 01

Wipe after practice. Use a soft, damp cloth. For a deeper clean, add a little mild soap.

  2. 02

Let it air dry. Lay it flat or hang it before rolling it up.

  3. 03

Keep it out of the sun. Store it away from direct sunlight and heat, which are hard on natural rubber.

  4. 04

Skip harsh cleaners. No bleach, alcohol or strong chemicals, and don't put it in the washing machine.

FAQ

Questions, answered.

Something else? Get in touch.

What is the mat made of?

Natural rubber, coconut shell fiber and a vegan leather surface.

How big and heavy is it?

183 × 68 cm, 4.5 mm thick, and about 3 kg. It's a substantial mat that stays put.

Which colors are there?

Lavender, Lapis, Olive and Black & white. The Tenri line is in the same place on every one.

Does a new mat have a smell?

Natural rubber can have a light scent at first. Unroll your mat and let it air out for a few days and it fades.

Can I use it for hot yoga?

Absolutely. The vegan leather surface has a sticky grip on its own, the natural rubber base stays planted on the floor, and the mat dries quickly after class. For even more hold, add the snap-on towel.

How do I clean it?

A soft, damp cloth after practice, and a little mild soap now and then. See Care for the rest.
